Professional History
Management Consulting - Systems Analysis
Dan Bochneak began his professional career in the 1970's as a management consultant. Project assignments required expertise in root-cause-analysis and long-term corrective action for faulty information systems that required skills in the design, development, and implementation of system enhancements that yielded metrics-based results that included:
- Reduced cost of manufacturing
- Improved cycle time
- Increased first-pass-yieds
- Improved product quality for discrete and batch manufacturers
Systems affected included:
- Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
- Production and Inventory Control
- Quality Control
- Manufacturing Resources Planning (MRP II)
Quality Circles - Human Factors - Change Management
Early in his career he became an advocate of the principles of W. Edwards Deming and Max De Pree and realized the overarching importance of:
- Human factors
- Organizational dynamics
- Well researched and defined requirements for business process re-engineering
W. Edwards Deming is credited by Tom Peters as being "the father of statistical process control and the Japanese quality revolution."
Max De Pree, past Chairman & CEO of Herman Miller, Inc. is known for saying, "Around here, the employees act as if they own the place." The company founders implemented concepts that empowered employees to make decisions at the lowest levels. Herman Miller, Inc., is placed in the top 10 percent of the 2003 Information Week 500, a ranking of the country's most technologically progressive companies.
